Giving up pride and power, refusing to seek our own gain ahead of others, always looking out for what is best for our neighbor, and recognizing what really matters - this Way would be impossible, if not for the fact that it is God at work in us, enabling us to want it and to live it. We cannot humble ourselves into fullness of life by trying harder. We become fully alive by being filled - filled with the Spirit, filled with love. filled with the life that God has been offering us from the beginning, if we will only stop trying to fill ourselves with everything else.
