Gluttony, at its core, is a filling problem. If we are filled with the Spirit, there isn't room or need to fill our lives with other things. If we refuse to make room for the Spirit, we will consume and consume and consume...and we will still be left wanting. Because what we really want is the awe and wonder and beauty of God. The things we reach for – the food, the drink, the scrolling, the bingeing – aren't necessarily bad in themselves. But they are not what we are actually hungry for. They are substitutes for something deeper, something our souls are craving.
