Love – receiving and giving it – pushes back on envy. When we know that we aren't yet who we are going to be – and even in this state, we are fully loved – there is no room for envy. In fact, love desires what is best for others, so seeing their success can bring us true joy when we are certain of our own identity in Christ. When we know that we have unconditional worth, a worth based on God's love, we can freely affirm others' gifts without feeling threatened or inferior.
