Due to the winter weather, we will not be gathering for worship tomorrow (January 25). Please stay safe and warm, and check on your neighbors as you are able.

As a reminder for the coming week, if Roanoke County Schools are closed, the church building is closed. If you have a pastoral emergency, you can reach Pastor Melissa on her cell phone.

A message from Pastor Melissa:
Yesterday I wrote a devotion that I planned to send out if we were unable to worship together tomorrow, but as I have followed the news today, it doesn’t feel like what is needed. Instead, I ask that you join me in spending the hour we would have spent in worship in prayer - for our country, for those suffering around the world, and for those who have no shelter from this storm that is affecting so many. Pray also that God will show you what actions you need to take in the face of injustice and suffering, to bring about the kingdom of God here on earth.

One prayer practice that has been meaningful to me, especially when I am heartbroken and having trouble finding words to pray, is the Quaker practice of holding people in the Light of God's love. Picture the person/people for whom you are praying surrounded by bright light and warmth, wrapped by God who is Love. I will be doing this and listening to and singing this song as I do so: Sending You Light . Perhaps that will be helpful for you, as well.

I am praying for you, and I look forward to being able to be back together again soon.
