Rev. Melissa Scott

In August of 2024, Pastor Melissa Scott celebrated 25 years in ministry at our same location! Under Colonial Avenue Baptist, she served as the minister of youth and education, then associate pastor, and then pastor. Pastor Melissa continues her ministry with us as co-pastor of Radiance Community Church.

 As we gathered together to celebrate Melissa’s many years of ministry, around the table in August, her church family and friends described her in the following ways:

“always there in times of difficulty, inspiration, gift of listening, ability to be open and vulnerable, how God wants us to be in the world, raised a lot of teenagers, provides wise advice to youth and parents, a place where God’s love is present, practical and open-minded, phenomenal colleague and friend, provides love, dedication and time, mentors young ministers, she’s been by my side in struggle, I love you with all my heart, thank you, thank you for your heart for teenagers, thank you for your heart for the church.”

Pastor Melissa Scott’s work with our children and youth over the years is beyond measure.  She is often heard saying “I just want them to love Jesus” and nothing could more authentic. Pastor Melissa’s ability to connect with our children is truly a gift.  Her favorite part of ministry is helping people of all ages grow in their faith and discover their place in God's story.

Pastor Melissa’s empathy and compassion are shown throughout her many years of service in our community and beyond through mission work. Pastor Melissa’s ability to sit with us during our toughest times and challenge us in our faith are just some more of her greatest talents.
